This Year's Tree

Oh my tree this year is going to be so beautiful. It's nonflammable, it's prelit...and it's white. No strings of lights to untangle is the absolute best thing ever. I remember in years past waiting for anyone to walk through the front door and untie me. There were always at least ten strings of lights that someone (who shall remain nameless because I can't find anyone to take the blame) removed from the tree, did not disconnect one from the other, and just rolled them into a ball and threw them in a box. Know why? Because it is just too much trouble to take care of at the time, and I really don't want anyone to miss out on the ranting and raving that will follow the opening of "the box". And the screams of "who put these lights in this box?" I think it may be time to come clean with myself. I know who it was that put the lights in the box. I'm the only one who decorates in here, and I'm also the only one who "undecorates", so why deny it? Undecorates. I think I may have just made up a word. I wonder if it'll work in Scrabble? But I digress. So the tree is in it's infancy...I started the decorating earlier this week and am adding things slowly so that it's all even and doesn't have the "stood back and threw the junk on it" look. While I may be a bit impatient removing the tree ornaments, I have the patience of Job when it comes to the actual decoration. Once I could let the sheer beauty of the live tree take the brunt of the disorganizational frenzy of frolic. But now, sigh, we have a fake tree. Or to put a better spin on it, we now have a Faux Tree. I got a white one to celebrate the fact that no one in the house smokes anymore, (a nicotine coloured tree is the most horrible sight to behold). I've always wanted a white tree, imitation snow...it's supposed to be in the 60's today so it's a bit of a stretch on the imagination, but if I turn the a/c on and get it to about 50 I can put on a sweater and stand in front of tree with a cup of coffee to help warm me up. That's after I finish decorating it. By the time that happens it may be in the forties outside and there will be no need of pretense. I will be done with the decorating as soon as I reach "critical mass". Not one limb left unadorned, not one light left unlit and the floor groans with the sheer weight of it all. Ah, Christmas...it's the most wonderful time of the year...

I laughed out loud when I read your comment on my last post about still being stuck on the floor wrapping presents. Nope I am up now but stuck in the Christmas tree. A new post sometime today. (Are you gonna show us a picture of your beautiful white tree?) ~ Lynn

The CD is one of my favorites and I just thought you would enjoy it, especially The Bells Of St. Paul's.

Hiya

Thanks for the comment on my blog - I am afraid you did get the wrong person - I am only 31 and not getting married til next year! I do like the "cats have staff" bit though - mine certainly do. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you will pop back again soon!
Best wishes

LOL! Hope that you never actually reach critical mass.

It's bad Karma to keep a gift intended for someone else? Is that like stealing? LOL!

Hey Sandi! O had the wrong link to the wrong Claire! Oye. I have it fixed now. I also linked it on the anniversary post. Just click on Claire or Mike and Claire and it should work.

I am a real goof ball lately.

The other Claire has a blog called Pinky and Boo. She is a sweetie too though!

Have you reached critical mass yet??

Hugs,
Sue

I want to see a picture when it's all done. I've been seeing alot of white trees in the stores, they are so pretty. When I was growing up my parents had a silver tree with this multi colored light that revolved around the tree. Hope you have a good weekend.

I used to be all about the "real tree", but after many life experiences that put that sort of stuff in it's proper perspective, I'm blessed to celebrate Christmas...no matter how it looks!

Waiting for the photos... ;)

I love decorating the tree but will not be getting mine just yet.
You make me laugh about the lights, we all have that problem I am sure.
Every year I give in and buy new ones.
I am looking forward to the photo!
Have a lovey weekend.

Hi there Sandi, the Christmas Tree lights, don't mention the Christmas Tree lights, every year we spend an hour or more untangling what what looks like a lit up birds nest!! Great post, as always :) Just got back online after the move of the Nest. We are now waiting for photos of the white tree please, how beautifully ethereal. Now we have just this moment realised we should not have sent you the Cherry Ripe Chocolate Bar, or at least sent a modified choc version. At least it didn't go to waste thanks to Mac/Wallace :) J & J xoxo

I bet your tree is pretty!
Thanks for the anniversary greeting you left on my blog. Yeah, it's amazing to be married so long in a world where divorce is so easy. I'd say that 98% of my kids' friends were from divorced families.
I didn't have to housebreak my husband, though. His mom did a pretty good job with him. He does housework better than I do, LOL!

Ahhhh the lights. My husband swears we have a "bad elf" that goes into the light box after Christmas and messes them all up. He swears, he puts them up neatly every year after Christmas so it must be the "bad elf".

I've been reading the comments here and, I must say, I'm appalled at you and all these people who don't properly pack away your lights. You must put each strand in a seperate Wal-Mart bag, don'tcha know! lol No tangles, no muss, no fuss. My smartest move last year was forgetting to write down WHERE I packed the Christmas tree lights (in which box). Since we bought the pre-lit tree, I just didn't see the need to worry about where I put the lights we USED to put on a tree. But this year, when I was frantically searching for some to put around the windows, I realized the error of my ways. Hasn't helped, though. I STILL don't know where those stupid lights are and ended up having to go buy more. I suspect Mr. Randey may have swiped 'em and put them up outside.
I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE PICTURES OF THE WHITE TREE!!!! Like Joan, I've seen them in the stores and love the look. I tried to talk Randey into one a few years ago but you know...the smoking thing. It wasn't a good idea. But now we're smoke free so give me something to aim for - show me that tree!! lol
Merry Christmas!

Hi Sandi-what a great idea getting a white tree this year!! Bet it will look wonderful!Just popped by to apologise for being such a terrible blogger of late but I've explained all on my blog about why I'm going to take a short break from blogging (my poor sister has just had surgery so we're all helping out). Have a lovely December and I'll try to visit as often as I can! xxxxx
