Update on The World's Worst Patient

I just wanted to let everyone know that Daddy is doing so much better that St. Toni of Columbia (who was in danger of being demoted to Simple Caregiver) , has taken the little bell that sat by our beloved father's bedside and thrown it out the front door where it rests for eternity in a drain pipe in front of her house. No longer sure that anyone is trying to kill him (unless he stays at St. Toni's for much longer) he is up and about and able to take a little broth. And a steak. Don't forget the baked potato...sour cream with that please. Salad? Who wants a stupid salad...where's the butter? Who hid the salt and pepper?

We love him. Mama spoiled him for any women but those in his family who are used to his demanding (yet somehow loving) ways. I hear the phone ringing. I'll let the machine get it. I'll listen to make sure that St. Toni is not on the line with information on when he may be expected to return to our loving care.

The Simple Caregiver assures me that the end of the week will see him back in the bosom of his family. I love him, you all know that I do. But who has the directions to the Airport?

You are hilarious! And I'm very happy to hear your daddy is doing well. St. Toni, I'd do the same thing, girlfriend--(pass that on, lol)

Keep the posts coming, I enjoy them. xo

So glad that things are settling down with your Dad, must be such a relief. I don't have a bell, but do have a walkie talkie, which I would love to throw out of the front door, and I am on the calling end!

Sorry to have given you a scare, writing has just been a little much to manage. Promise not to leave it so long next time even if it is dead short! Smoking is going well, managed not to have one even through the pain - ought to have blogged that, so I will go back and add it now!

Glad to hear your Dad is doing well. Yep, we all love our family members even when they don't act like good guests.

Hugs!

I hear ya! You love him all the while trying to think of a way to gently kick him in the behind. Best wishes to you all as you figure out the way to best deal with the next step, which is home care at your house????

Yup, you'd better take to the friendly skies, while you can. Get out of Dodge. All those *escape* things. lol

Oh I'm so happy that he's doing so well!! Sometimes the ones we love the most are the ones that are the most difficult to deal with!! And the bell...well, I think it would have landed out the door the first day had it been me! LOL

I'm glad to hear your dad can now take a little broth. And steak. And baked potato. Nix on the salad. I always take orneriness and hearty appetite as very promising signs of robustness. And yes, directions to the airport can be lifesaving too.

Oh Sandi. I am so sorry I was behind in knowing all of this. Only you could write so well and with so much humor and heart about it all.
I had a Daddy like that but without the accent! : )
I loved and adored him but he was a stubborn cuss. : )
You are a wonderful daughter...I love the bell bit!!! LOVE it!

Love you too!

Some really encouraging news you shared here, girlfriend. And what the heck -why spare the steak, baked, sour cream and butter at his age anyway? Kind of locking the barn door after the horse has been stolen in a way, ya know. I love the way you write about this though - you can feel the love you have coming through in spades in your humor.
