Visions in the Garden

Believe it or not, but after five inches of rain during last week, I've had to go out and water plants this morning, fill bird baths and now am considering mowing the grass. I'm considering, mind you, not completely "hold my feet to the fire" sure, but the time is coming. So, I'm wandering around out in the front garden with watering cans in hand (where's my yoke when I need it?) going to the petunias and the landscape roses, the hens and chicks...the Cathedral Belles and the day lilies just watering and admiring and I suddenly see what I am going to do as soon as the humidity breaks enough for me to spend some quality time in the new seating area under the cedars. Mac calls this "having visions" and it's something I do all to frequently. We have a gated arch at the end of the front porch. We put it there a few years ago so we could keep a former neighbors wandering dogs off the front porch and the cats would have a safe haven to run to. I have decided that we will simply build a small gate to attach to the porch entry and move the arch to the new seating area. I am going to build a secret garden there...a fairy garden, complete with little painted doors and windows on trees, hidden treasures in the brush and foliage. I can see it all in my mind and it will be something that Arianna will love to visit. I want to do it while the flowers are still abundant and hummingbirds are still flitting and fighting over nectar. Then when winter comes, there will be a Christmas Garden, since I light the cedars each year. I am so looking forward to starting this project that I may not wait for the humidity to break...I may start it today. I'll let you know how it goes!

Oh, and Pyewackit and Mindy appreciate your support in the upcoming election. He is still looking for cabinet ministers...Dogs may apply, he is not prejudiced against them. He says his best friend is a dog and running for Vice President. All offers will be considered.

Okay, this is an edit...an edit I couldn't wait to put in...Vee over at A Haven For Vee (http://ahavenforvee.blogspot.com/ ) gifted me this morning. See that lovely little girl sitting on the park bench? She says "just plain fun to read"? This is an award I have longed for since the first time I saw someone else receive it. I can't tell you how much it means to me that my dear Vee has given it to me. I intend to pass it along to six others, but later in the week, after I've had time to enjoy it myself a bit. Thank you Vee, and congratulations on receiving it yourself...it is a well deserved award for you!

Your new garden area sounds lovely. Have you seen the ideas that Dawn has shared about same at The Feathered Nest? Also, someone, shoot if I can remember, just won a blue ribbon for a miniature flower display in a thimble...too cute! Maybe Shanda at Front Porches-Sweet Tea and Old Aprons. Yup! That's the one!

Say, Love, I have something for you today at my blog!

Aaahhhhhhh, she dreams of a Faerie Garden, with all the joys there of... See, my Woodland Nymph got to you, after all. -giggles-

Annnnnd, seems we have a running thread going, in comments. {Cute hu?}

If you were thinking the Woodland Nymph looked a bit weird.. Have I got a cover for you now! -sigh- -sigh- -sigh-

Methinks you will remember that I am hooked on the 'Twilight' book series by Stephenie Meyer... Well, the 4th in the series of books is coming out on Aug. 2. And the first book-based-film is coming in December. Based on the FIRST book.
And so, we fans are pretty pumped.

And now, the media is noticing what we've known for ages. So, more public stuff is appearing. And "Entertainment Weekly" has the actors who play Bella and Edward, on their cover.

But!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -pout- -moan- -hiss- -sob-

Please click here and seeeeeeeeeeee! -sighhhhhhhhhh- Also please read my critique of it!!!

I'm still loving 'Twilight.' But guess I'm not going to love _all_ of the publicity it's getting.

Congratulations, Sandi,
well deserved! Now you may sit down for a serious "Visions" session. ;-)

I found out what kind of tree I had photographed, for my "Tree and Windows" post: A hawthorn! I should have known.

Would you like me to shove a bit of our cool 66F over to your place? ;-)

Congrats on your award, well deserved, you are fun to read. The secret garden project sounds wonderful, right from the beginning when I saw the little garden behind my bungalow I knew I wanted a secret garden with green walls and pretty things in it. It is such a wonderful feeling when you have a dream and work towards it. I really love my little garden, it is madness to most others, but for me it is exactly what I wanted!

Have a great day!!

Fairy garden? Ooh! I can't wait to see it. Dare I ask if you've discovered Toscano? This sounds so exciting and I'm sure you're doing tons of research!

Hopping up and down too excitedly for hugs but you get one even so!

The fairy garden vision sounds so wonderful and creative. It will be the perfect place for a little girl to get lost in creative thought.

Your vision sounds great! I'm thinking of making me a fairy door out of popsicle sticks and painting it red. Oh but I do not intend to do anything outside while it is so humid except water plants. Please Lord, send rain!

Well congratulations on your much-deserved award, and you have once again proven how much you deserve this award, with today's post. Secret fairy garden? That's the best idea I've heard all week....I think it will look so enchanted....I hope you start it soon...

My garden is a bit like that. Not big enough to get lost in, but my little fairy garden paradise all th same. ;0)

Mork, Mindy, Bubble &Squeak are all up for helping Pye in the cabinet. Especially if there's canned birds...

Sandi, to read your post about why you blog and what it means to you on the heels of my wondering about my own blogging experience has been very interesting. I have to agree that I feel more free with who I am in the blogging community. I'm convinced that if anyone wants to really know another person, just read his/her blog.

I'm so glad that you love your "Just Plain Fun to Read" award and congrats on receiving another very special one.

Gentle hugs, Sandi...hope that soft rains take over the watering of your garden — every night between two and four a.m. :D
