The Thanksgiving Challenge Post 16: What makes me happy and thankful today

What makes me happy and thankful today? Most (99%) of my readers make me happy. They read what I have to say and add to my memories with memories of their own. You are always fun and cheerful or if you're not well you tell me and ask for prayer. Rarely are you critical of what I have to say. But since they are my memories, I don't know why anyone would feel the need to criticize them anyway. I have one reader who bothers me. I have yet to read a comment from him that was not hateful and frankly disturbing. One post the other day had a comment on it that was so graphically violent that I worried about my ten year old Granddaughter reading it. I deleted it as soon as I found it and hoped that would be the end of it. Today's comment on Post 15, while not violent, was equally hateful. Again, I removed it from my blog. I am not going to be forced into changing my way of posting. I shouldn't have to. So, today I am thankful for the delete button. It will be used as often as I need to take advantage of its powers. If it says "comment removed by a blog administrator" then you know that I am being so very very thankful at the express moment my finger hits the delete key!

I don't know who this blogger is, but I think that you are right to delete his comments. Luckily I rarely have problems but when I do, as you say, the delete key is a good alternative to the panic button!

Why are people like that? For what purpose? I'm glad you deleted the offensive comment and now that he knows you're not going to tolerate his abuse, he will probably behave himself. If not - block the SOB.

I've had a few weird comments too, but instead of getting worked up over them, I make fun of them. Problem solved. :0)

I've had a few like that and I am thankful, too, that I can delete the material from my blog.

There is always someone out there who is not happy with thier life and think we should all be miserable. Your blog is always so upbeat. I can't imagine what someone would have to comment negatively about.
Maybe you can start a new trend. Instead of the popular and offensive word that is so prevalent now... perhaps we can all say DELETE YOU!

Thank God for the delete button. It's amazing how some people can be cruel and pretentious. They need to remain in their own cell, I guess. They haven't learned to get along.

p.s. loved your story about kitchens in the previous post.

I'm thankful I haven't experienced that yet. And I'm thankful that you're hardy enough to delete his sorry comments.

I don't understand why some people are like that. I love your blog and all of your memories you share with us.

If you use the comment moderation button....maybe this person will get tired of being mean.

I am glad you dump this stuff, but I am sorry you have to deal with it at all. I don't know why people feel the need or right to do such things. It's sad, really.

You brighten my day. You teach me plenty. And I am grateful for you.

I'm sorry you had such trouble. And I enjoy listening to Sarah McLaughlin. Malaguena. I remember when my kids played that at recitals. I never knew Roy Clark played it.

Okay, must move on.

Good post Sandi! Sometimes I'm grateful for the delete button too. Because I have my comments moderated I get to make sure they never get to the point where anyone else can read them.

Hugs,
Lee

Yep -I can relate to the old "delete" button too and have used it on a few occasions. Actually, the only comments I have ever deleted have been of the SPAM variety. I even left the one left by the "Crap Blog Detective" stay in the comments section on my blog! But at least it wasn't something grossly nasty or anything like that -just his opinion and I figure hey, nobody told him he had to read my blog, did they?
So yes, that little button is something good for which we should all be darned thankful!

I am sorry about that.:( How unfortunate. Perhaps you can turn on the comment moderation for a little while until this problem dissipates.
It is a shame, your place is one of my favorite ones to visit.;)

It's pathetic why people have to be like that. Very cowardly if you ask me. Hiding behind a computer screen is all too easy. You have a great blog, he's probably just jealous.

My advice Sandi is to not give them another thought or the time of day, see any offensive comment, push the delete and LET IT GO! I had a "nutter" stopping by my blog on a regular basis, even went as far as emailing. I just kept deleting without any comment back to them. It worked, they moved on to other blogs (actually I hope they just gave up and got a life but....) I am really sorry you had to put up with this kind of bs. You do have a lovely blog and lots of great people stopping by. That's what matters.

What a sad life the commenter must lead if the only joy they get is making nasty comments on someone's blog. You do right to delete them and relegate them to the trash can where they belong. x

Good for you!! You should not have to deal with negativity on your own blog.
