Time Changes and Weather challanges

I want them to leave the time alone. Seriously, leave it at daylight savings time or Eastern Standard time, but just pick one and be happy with it. I can't see where we save a thing by going on Daylight Savings Time because what you save at one end of the day, you spend at the other. Okay you don't need your lights on till later in the day, say 6:30 or 7:pm (like I don't have my lights on inside anyway.) But you have to turn your lights on when you get up earlier anyway plus for those kilowatt savers, leave them on longer. I'm not really clear on what we're saving . Farmers got along without time changes for hundreds of years. They worked around it and never a complaint. I don't remember my grandparents changing the clocks, I suppose they did, but only the one on the stove, I'm thinking, the one that said "get a move on you're gonna be late for church". And the weather is making me crazy. Well, crazier. The wind howled so fiercely yesterday that there was no escaping it. I finally understand what Mac means when he talks in knotts...wind miles not weapons. Nothing appears to be where I put it, the wind knocks you around like a sock puppet, and to top it off the frequent changes make me feel about 90 years old, every bone creaking and grinding together. I have a hitch in my git along (hip pain) for at least half an hour when I get up. I found myself picking up a bottle of glucosamine/chondroitan to give a try but decided to wait and get the feedback from folks who know. Meaning you. So, as I lay on the sofa this a.m. and watched Night at The Museum (if you haven't seen it, it's pretty good for us escapism fans) and decided if I could just get me one of those magic book of leaves, (see the movie) I might just enjoy life as though I were twenty again. What a concept.

Hi Sandi,
I ache in the AM too...I use tylenol....it helps. I did try the glucosamine/chondroitan. My doctor said if I didn't see a marked improvement in 6 months to stop taking it...after six months I was still sore in the AM - that's my take on it. But others have said it worked for them. I guess it depends why you have the aches in the first place...

Oh Sandi, it sounds as if it has been one of those sort of days for you, the kind that are best over! We change the clocks, but not until the end of the month - the reason that I know that is you just sent me into a panic that I was supposed to have changed the clocks and I had to check my diary, and then that wasn't clear so I had to check the carer's diary!

Anyway no change for us yet! I haven't tried either of those meds, so sorry but I am no help there.

We have had a lovely day today, but are in for a real buffeting tonight with winds up to 80 mph expected! I love a storm though so it doesn't bother me, and thankfully the only thing that seems to affect me healthwise is the cold, which doesn't get along with my aches and pains at all. Sorry to hear about your hitch in your git along, did the doc recommend those for you?

Hi, Sandi....I can take just about any kind of weather but wind drives me crazy, too. And, living out here on the plains of West Texas, we get PLENTY of winds...and SAND. This is the reason I am not in a hurry for spring here. We have one sand storm after another until summer! Grrrr...I hate it.
I don't have too many aches so I've not tried the glucosamine...my sister in law did and it didn't seem to help all that much. I keep telling my daughter that "getting old ain't for sissies!!" and that is a true fact! Hang in there...maybe summertime will be better.
hugs, bj

Yup, I'm very stiff in the morning or if I stay in one spot for long. I used the glucosamine/chondroitin for a number of years and I thought that it worked very well except that it can mess with blood sugar so that scared me. I use arthritis Tylenol formula...slow release...works pretty well. Nothing works much better than the stinky old horse liniment, though. (Not really, but the heat of a Ben Gay like product does feel good.)

My mother does pool therapy for her RA and notices great improvement after just a few sessions.

Is the March wind taking care of all the puddles and mud?

It's blowing pretty good here today, too.

Sandi ~ As for me... I am a little mixed. I love FALL BACK time changes because I get an hour extra sleep, but then I love SPRING AHEAD... because 1) the clocks are easier to set ahead, but then it also menas that spiring is just around the corner... (AT LEAST I REALLY REALLY HOPE SO!) ~ jb///

Hi Sandi,

The time change thing just messes me up for a few days. My hubby takes glucosamine and he says he takes it because it heals. I've not taken it but should because my back aches alot. Our weather stinks, snow, blizzard, just an all around fun time. LOL I'm trying to upload photos to show you but blogger hates me today. :-)

That howling wind the other night stole an umbrella right of the porch and we still can't find it. Must be up in a tree somewhere. My mom and I were around Clemson, Seneca, and Anderson SC on Saturday and I thought of you. We ate lunch at the cutest little place and found some good antique stores.

Hi Sandi, Sorry girlfriend but I love daylight savings time. I was so happy it changed this weekend. I tried glucosamine (sp.?) for a long time when I was playing tennis constantly. Can't see where it did me any good. Good ol' motrin works for me. We planted our spring spinach today. I would love to send you a "cupcake" for your Dad if you give me your address. xo Lynn

So maybe one of the only good things about living over here, no time changes, EVER! No I am not trying to rub it in. I would take the time change over this place anyday. We too have crazy wind, but being that I am loving the cool air, it doesn't bother me for now. When the baby's here that's a different story. I hope things are looking up for you!
