Days upon days

It's been a rough few days here in Jefferson. Oh yeah you know we had heat but that broke earlier in the week, and it's been in the mid 80's which is down right chilly to us now. I haven't been in the best of shape for typing (or keyboarding, whatever you call it these days) because the RA has flared and every joint is on fire. But you know what, I'm getting through it. I'm not having to worry about my home washing away from flood waters. I worry about my friends all along the Mississippi and wonder how they're getting along and praying that they are safe from the swelling river. Hoping against hope that help has arrived with sand bags or boats...that they had time to put things that are precious to them where they won't be lost. My knees decided they didn't want to bend well long about Monday but thank God I don't have to outrun a tornado or a forest fire encroaching on my home...I worry about my friends who now find themselves living in Tornado Alley or in the middle of a fire plain. So, while my fingers may ache my knees may creak and my head may bend with the pain in my neck, I can still laugh at Hound's antics and know that I am safe. I don't worry about any returning illness that is much harder to fight then Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). I worry about my friend who is waiting for word and praying that the word is benign. So, I'll be back in fighting form soon...and praying you are all safe from storms, flood fire and illness...I love you all...

Oh sweet friend, I was hoping you were off doing something fun and exciting. Maybe visiting friends or family or had company visiting you. I missed you but I had no idea you were hurting. I am so sorry. I hope you're better very very soon. I'll pray for that tonight.

You are so right...we are blessed if we're not having to deal with what so many others are going through right now.

Gentle hugs for you!
Kat

Oh my yes, Sandi -how true all of what you wrote here is! I try to plan what I need to get out of my cupboards for a meal so I can have Mandy bend down and get this or that for me or make darned sure she is near by to help me get back up if I am the one who had to sit on the floor to look for an ingredient and then, can't stand back up alone! And the aches and pains in the joints and back that amplify for us when the weather changes are nothing compared to what others are dealing with -flooding, fires, etc. Makes these things seem very miniscule and even trite by comparison. One of the bloggers on my favs list is safe but her house needs a whole lot of work -however, a cousin of hers -not so lucky as their house was destroyed completely. My house is a wreck from two little one dumping toys all over it -but they do have their toys, they do have a bed, they do have a roof over their heads. So lucky, so blessed and yet, we so often think of the little things that annoy until you come along and remind us how things could be, if we were someplace else in this country, in the world today. Excellent post and one we all need to take to heart too -thank the Lord above or whoever/whatever your Higher Power might be because there but for that Grace go you and me!
Peace -and hopefully some easing up too in your aches and pains.

Sandi, such sadness in your writing your pain and discomfort must be terrible. There are always people worse off, but it doesn't make your pain go away. I hope it will soon. I hope also your friend hears the benign word too. Thinking of you and your friends in these troubled times. Love Debs x

My dear Sandi, you gloss over your pain so well, but I am not fooled. I know what hell a flare is so please know that I am praying for you and for this flare to be a thing of the past...poof! Sending a gentle hug...wish that I could do the dishes, mop the floor, make a meal...I'd make you some angel biscuits as I'm getting quite good at it. ;>

Counting our blessings, Sandi, and thinking of others, that can sustain us through rough times, can't it? I believe you are a master of both.

You're in my prayers, babe. Sending good vibes from New Mexico...

The old saying "there's always someone worse off" is so true. Well done you for being so upbeat in the face of adversity. :)

Sandi, sorry to hear that you are hurting, I wish that there was something that I could do for you, that is the biggest problem with blogland, you can't just pop round to lend a hand, but I am sending virtual hugs to you and I hope that you feel better soon. There are always people who are so much worse off than we are, I know of people who have far worse MS & far worse ME, not to mention those that are suffering in other ways, and I always try and remember that.

Doesn't mean that you don't deserve some sympathy too, and sometimes it becomes very hard to think of others as you struggle yourself. I do think though that everyone has struggle in their lives, just different struggles. Where did my magic wand go?

Aww Sandi so sorry you're hurting. It does put things in perspective when you hear the news though doesn't it. Take care of yourself sweetie and hope it's better real soon. Miss you.

I am so sorry you are hurting. I know that you are in so much real pain with this. I have fibro maligia and when the weather is hot and sticky it only adds to ones discomfort. I lifted your name in prayer. Wishing you a week filled with all things beautiful and blessings spilling over....Mary
