Malaise Personified

I can't believe how long I've been away.  But when my blogging fans start hunting me down it is time to get my butt in gear and get out of whatever gear you would call molasses.  Everyday now for several weeks I have told myself  "go blog".  Everyday I answered myself with "I'll do it tomorrow."  When I began answering to the name Scarlet, I knew the gig was up.

I believe I have been in a malaise...not really a funk, not really depression (I don't have manic/depressive periods...just manic.)  I was like a well fed cat, content to piddle around doing not much of nothing, napping in the afternoon, watching my new addiction, Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the evenings and now here is something you will find hard to believe...I've only played three or maybe four games of Scrabble with my pal Lee in the past several weeks.  Why she hasn't called out the dogs on me, I have no clue.

But now here we are in the beginning of Spring, the greenhouse is loaded with plants (to get your own, for 99 bucks, free shipping, go here ( http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=greenhouse&_sacat=0&_odkw=greenhouse+kit&_osacat=0&_trksid=p3286.c0.m270.l1313 )  and Mac has been turning over the garden space and suddenly, I'm alive.  I think I may have been keeping that darned rodent, Phil company in his den.  I knew we were in trouble when he saw his shadow...I've been here before.  It's not a new condition, but one I promise myself not to visit to often.  So, today I return to the place I love the best, and offer some pictures up as a mea culpa to show why we call our place Orchard Cottage.  Then I'm going visiting, I've missed my friends.  First, here are the plum and peach trees all in bloom...followed by the pear and Victoria Plums...and the most spectacular flower in our garden...the Arianna Lily...all dressed in blue

I gave Mac a small green house for his birthday, and he has taken full advantage of its abilities...he has grown everything from seed and we have so many varieties of tomatoes it is umseemly...

He is in and out of his new found paradise so much that I've decided that all he needs is a small cot out there to make his world complete!

A green house! I am so jealous! I would express my desire for one, but am afraid that he who plumbs would begin to"build' one and then it would be yet another unfinished project. I know what you mean about your malaise. I have some days that I would be perfectly happy to see or hear from no-one. But ..... the sun is shining today and the dirt is calling my name....

You've caught me in the middle of a self-imposed "commenting freeze," but I must comment if only to say it is wonderful to see a post here. I've fretted and stewed and even called once, but at some point, one must allow others to live their lives. You needed time. Hope for our sakes that you've had all the time that you need. Clever gal to give Mac a greenhouse, especially seeing all that he's been achieving with it.

Your garden looks great with the fruit trees in bloom. I have a greenhouse I used to start all my plants in and grow potted plants all winter but the last few years I've been lazy and haven't done what I used to. I got a lot of good out of mine though since I had it built around 1996 and I used it all the time for well over 10 years. That's a great gift you gave your husband.

Arianna is beautiful!

Love the spring bloom pictures (as you might imagine!). I think the bogging down of the ability to blog is called winter! I have been much slower about posting or being even in bloggy land. I have been hibernating in other areas of the house - particulary in the kitchen or what little bit of down time, in front of the TV :)

Glad to see you moving around!

It is good to see the trees coming out into blossom at last - everything is late here. I am itching to get out into the garden but first we have some jobs to finish off in the cottage.

Lovely photo of your grand daughter.

Totally love the greenhouse. What can you tell me about it? I need one! Good to see your trees in bloom. I saw the tiniest redbuds on our trees this morning!

sometimes you just have to take a break from the blog. I go through periods of time like that too. Glad you're back though and wasn't sick or anything. Happy Spring!

Sure is good to see a post up here from you as I was getting worried when I realized I hadn't seen anything from you in quite a while. Just glad that you or Mac weren't sick and that you've just been busying yourself with some of your other favorite things in life -like gardening and of course, your beautiful granddaughter too!
Don't stay away this long ever again though. Okay?

Nice to see you back on form. We too have bought a little greenhouse and have plans to plant this weekend as Spring seems to have finally decided to arrive here.i will blog about it soon !!!!

Well, heck, Sandi! I figured you'd respond to my latest email as soon as you found a moment. I'd thought you were: 1) out in the garden, 2) having lots of company, and 2) maybe spending time with Arianna. So now I'm not going to call the dogs out on your but I am going to call.

Lovely greenhouse. It does indeed look like it's put to good use. I'm surprised that it isn't overflowing but I guess Mac likes an orderly shop. :-)

Well, I'm sitting here and listening to your playlist so I guess it's time to find out when we can play Scrabble. Glad someone dug you out of your laid back and do nothing much zone.

Love,
Lee

I think blogging goes in cycles, just as the seasons do. You can't push roses to boom in winter, any more than you can force a blogpost during a dormant phase. Best to go with the flow at all times...Energies of plants and humans need to recoup before flowering anew!

Welcome back! I'd check every so often to find out what was going on with you and then got the brilliant idea of becoming a follower - then I'd be sure to get notice of when you stirred.
Love that greenhouse - great concept for a man-cave!

Now you know the first place to look when Mac goes A.W.O.L. Just hope the cats don't discover how cosy it is in there.

I'm raising seeds for cauliflower, broccoli, various asian greens and spinach as they will grow over winter here - we don't get snow in Wellington. Fall here is still quite warm.

Love and huggles to you, Mac and all the kittycats,

Michelle and Zebbycat

I have been down and dormant too...with me it is because of the cold. Just so happy to see you back again and with a lovely garden to pamper.

Inspiring! We need to get our tomato plants in their pots (no sunny spot in our yard, so they line the driveway). I think a lot of us have been caught up more in living lately than blogging or commenting. I'm just glad to read something from you again.

Enjoy your Spring visiting, Sandi :-)

I was wondering where you were...and now I know. I think you've been doing time in that little green cabin with Mac! What a neat gift...that just goes on giving.

Love the blue lily!

WE are traveling in NC this week and will foray into SC for one day to see husband's brotherin Lake City who is reportedly not doing well.

We missed his sister's husband's funeral because of a lot of unfortunate but funny mishaps between AR and NC.

Will be blogging about it.
