Gonna Be a Bear

Okay, we're into Fall now. I know it for sure because my body and mind want to hibernate. I can't make myself get out of bed before 7:30 a, and I'm ready to crawl into my den (I mean bed) by 9 p.
This has how it has always been with me. It won't last long, though. By the end of October I'll be back to my old self, the yawning will be a thing of the past, the early to bed later to rise syndrome will be something to laugh about. What I want to know is, am I the only one? Is there anyone else out there who has this problem? I would appreciate knowing. For now please enjoy this brief little funny I received in an e-mail several years ago from someone who obviously suffers right along with me! Oh, and double click on the
bear to enlarge it and read what it says!

I would like to be a bear too! Would have been good to have cubs the size of walnuts. A damn sight easier than 7-8 pounders! Like the idea of eating myself crazy and all that sleeping. Yeah.... wanna be a bear!

Are you sure you are not suffering from SAD? Try a light box!

Sandi: Very funny for certain, except for the hunters it would be fun to be a bear.

I think I'm with you there on the bear thing! I'm having the opposite trouble to you, I'm trying to sleep but can't... every morning I wake at 4 and that's it... I've been getting to work mega early.... I'm waiting for the crash... it's gonna happen soon, then all I'll do is sleep!

Me, me! I resemble that post. I've been in a funk all week, but I think I'm coming out of it now. Seasonal change always makes me restless. Listless. Spring and fall both make me want to feather my nest, but fall adds cooking and hibernation.

Oh, yeah. I love to sleep all winter. Oh, who am I kidding. I'd spend all year in bed if I could.

Oh, I definitely want to be a bear in my next life and the one after that!

Dark thirty, I'm heading for the bed with my book. By nine, I'm out but I do get up at 5!

I am usually up and going by 5AM, until the cool temps and fallishness arrives.

Like you, I sleep a little later, for a few weeks, then I'm back to "normal"; whatever that is! The coffee pot reappears about this time, having been put away for the warmer months. Iced tea and diet coke are my morning beverages during summer.
I'm sitting here, at the lake, with my feet up, looking out across the cove on a rainy fall morning. Heaven!

Have to get up early to feed the dogs, but I must admit I'm with you on the going to bed early. Pj's on at 8pm, in bed by 9.30!

Time to slow down, pull out the sweaters and hibernate. Let it happen, don't fight natural rhythms.

Is insomnia the opposite of hibernation? If so, I'm not at all bear-like but please do sign me up for that gig in my next life!

Me .. I start yawning about 4:30 and by 9:30 I am falling asleep .. I wake at 6 not because I want to but I am still a working gal and need to be up and out ... but my body and mind are lagging behind ..

The time change annoys me more than anything else. I hate the lack of daylight. Going to work in the dark and driving home in the dark is not my idea of time savings.

Winter is dreary here with the rain and grey skies. For now it beats the summer and all the heat.

Absolutely love the sentiment of this post and I love the card; yes, I will come back as a bear too.;)
Here in Scandinavia the lack of light in winter causes terrible fatigue and a slight depression, so I do feel tired, but more later in the year.;)
I hope you feel better soon.;)

I think I am a bear, well, except for the childbearing part (my last "walnut" weighed in at 9'2"). I want to be in the bed all the time, dozing, reading, dozing.... My legs are hairy and I tend to growl a lot when disturbed.

I'm weird. I'm more of a bear in the summer. I get spring fever in the fall.

I enjoyed that. I am a bear. Times two. And I love October.

Oh yeah! The minute it gets wet and cold just call me a bear. Actually I'll hibernate in just the rain. When this seasonal change happens to my sister it is called Seasonal Affective Disorder (S.A.D.) and she uses a light table to treat it. I don't have it that bad but would love to fill my house with bright lights that simulate the sunshine.

Hugs,
Lee

Hi Sandi!
Great post! - I'd love to be a bear right now.... wake up in six months time to find that someone has moved and arranged all my things in my new apartment, installed the cooker, washing machine, put up pictures evenly, put up curtain-poles and curtains, unpacked all my stuff and all the other boring things!!
Yes I'm moving! that's why I haven't been around... but soon the stress will be over... although it's only just begun! :( Oh what I would give to be that hibernating bear right now!! :D
Big Hugs dear friend!! XX

It is the eating that is killing me!

No bears here, but I do get ladybird (ladybug) beetles hibernating in my bedroom. They're now slowly coming to life.

Ol' Zebbycat cat eats like he's preparing for hibernation all year round! Warm snuggly huggles from us, Michelle and Zeb, xxx

Its here also fall
I love this time of the year :)))

Each time the seasons change I suffer from a sort of lethargy, probably due to the sudden atmospheric pressure. My head aches and my head feels empty and tired. It only lasts a day or two usually, then I perk up again.

I hope, seems to be taking a bit longer this autumn.

Temp still very high in florida 5 months this year of continuous humidity - usually breaks by now- I;ll be a dolphin thank you

Autumn is my favorite time of year, but I have a few of the body's signals of season changes.

You might as well enjoy them.

Today the SUN IS SHINING-Yeah. I feel better already.

I can certainly agree with the caption in this email. I'd like to share it. Do you know the author?

I think these changes are a reflection of what our lives would have been like in ancient times. We would have been putting away food for the winter, gathering skins, etc. and preparing to spend most of our time in our cave. Likewise, we would have put on body fat for insulation and to get us through the leaner months.

Usually, I notice the changes most when we set our clocks to the new time. It really messes up my biological clock.

No two ways about it, I'm not just gonna be a bear, I already am one. Well my kids would tell you she's something and it starts with a B but it has five letters instead of four and shouldn't really be said in mixed company ya know. Right now -I'm fighting the idea of how good hibernation sounds or at least for about a hour maybe -or two -just to get a little more sleep! That would be heaven!
Peace!

Nope, I'm not even going to be tempted by the Facebook post. No, no, no. Not another thing to keep me tethered to a computer. Glad that you are having fun with it, though.

My niece tried to be in touch with your darling son, but it didn't work out. We're going to keep trying...

No, I don't have this malady. I never want to be up that early and I always want to go to bed that early so it's a year-round malady for me not just in October.

Hugs to you and enjoy your snooze and I'd just like to say that I've never caught you snoozing yet. Thank you so much for all your help. I love you. It's just that simple.

I could hibernate too Sandi. I think I suffer from S.A.D. - I always start feeling depressed at this time of year. Roll on Spring. :(

I heard on the local news last night it's gonna' be a cold cold winter. And I have been seeing a lot of woolie caterpillars crossing the road which is not a good sign. Hope the weather men are wrong, wrong, wrong. Hi Sandi! xo

Jan said...

I am the exact same way! Except I usually don't stay up until 9! When it gets dark...it's time for bed! LOL! Hope this goes away soon!

I've seen that before and it's very cute.

Hmmmm...I guess that's why I've been thinking about a nap every day lately!
