August 4th...Or Supergirl's Ordeal

So as I posted last, Supergirl had her little operation yesterday. We received a call at 4:30 a to tell us no need for a wakeup call..."Grandma, I'm on my way to the hospital, so don't call to wake me up. Are you and Grandpa going to come here?"

I assured her we would be on the way soon. We left here about 8 a and headed up to Florence to McLeod's Hospital.

She still hadn't been taken into surgery but we weren't allowed to go up to holding. Going into the cafeteria, we got coffee and a roll and waited for Michael and Anna to come down. They joined us at 10:30 to tell us that she was talking up a storm as they wheeled her towards surgery. Typical Arianna.

So, here is Supergirl, not a happy camper, but a brave strong girl who never cried once. I can't figure out why hospitals only have grape and orange Popsicles. Would banana be such a budget breaker? Or raspberry? Or cherry?

Thanks all of you, my pals, for being concerned about our little sweetie...her mom and dad enjoyed reading all your comments. She will be reading them for herself soon.

Way to go, Arianna!

Sandi, I know she was glad to have you there when she woke up. If I'd ended up in the hospital you can be sure my visit would have come with some nice present. Did you guys give her any get well gifts? Maybe you can find a recipe for banana popsicles so that you don't have to buy them.

Hugs! & Prayers for a swift recovery!

YEA for popsicles. I even remember them at age 33 when I had mine removed. Nothing like 'em and yes, you ought to be able to have your favorite flavor.

Terri Steffes said...

What a trooper. I think you should be able to choose your flavor. Silly doctors!

Banana would be great. Anything red wouldn't be good, though in case she should start to bleed, you would wonder if it was the popsicle or the real thing. You would think that someone would come up with some popsicles out of white grape juice, though.

My grandson wanted popcorn of all things after his ordeal!

So, sweet! Both her and you.

There is nothing so gut wrenching as this is there? Children shouldn't have to hurt.

I still remember having my tonsils out. Not very much fun. Hope she feels better soon. And I agree, cherry should be mandatory.

Arianna - I've never seen a grape flavoured popsicle here. I hope it tasted nice and cooled down your throat, and that now you are feeling much better.

Well done to your Mom and Dad and to your Grand Parents for being there for you.

caring huggles, Michelle and Zebbycat

Ahhh, bless her little heart.
My youngest g-daughter had her tonsils removed this summer, too...in June. It was pretty rough for a few days after she got home but she came thru with flying colors. Her sweet mama stocked their freezer with ALL kinds of icy treats!
I hope your baby is doing great now!

Yeah, why no banana popsicles? Those were my favorite, by far, and I remember getting lime (which was OK, as I like them, but banana would have made me happy.)

Bless her. Sorry I am late, but you tell Supergirl she's the bomb! You should smuggle in some better ice lollies for her ;-) (did you like that? I did it just for you--ice lollies).

I'm so happy your little doll baby came through her ordeal okay. It's a big deal for a kid to go through surgery! And YES they should have more than two flavors available for those little ones who get their tonsils out.

My parents are coming in this Saturday for a visit. I plan to let my mom "borrow" and I do mean borrow your book. I think she will love the stories!

:-)

Brave girl. She knows she is loved. That is so much a part of courage. God bless the child. And bring on the rootin' tootin' banana Popsicles. Or, hey, let's do it up and have Italian ice. Bravery deserve a just reward.

Ouch! I'm with you on the popsicles. Hope your girl is feeling 100% really soon.

Sandi wishing her quick recover. Never cried once, wow this good. My Matthew cries just looking at the doctor [don't have any idea why], and also his vaccination room [this one I know why]. Thanks for sharing, again hope she gets better soon, she is real supergirl. Anna :)

As a kid, I had rotten tonsils. And then, I "outgrew" the condition. Still have the tonsils. They're still gargantuan, make doctors staring into my throat with their little lights exclaim, "Oh my, you have large tonsils!" But, miraculously, they never get infected any more. Not for decades.

Your little sweetheart looks so longsuffering on that pillow. May she mend soon. And yes, may banana popsicles find their way into hospitals. Bananas are the best. Even better than cherry. Orange-UGH. Nothing worse than artificial orange. Unless of course it's bad tonsils. Been there. Done that.
