This is May 18th? REALLY?

I woke up this morning...and that was the good news! Sonny, having recovered from his little procedure was in full helicopter mode (purring and loving) demanding breakfast. It's the most active we've seen him since he came home from the hospital. We had a busy weekend which began last Thursday. Our DIL Anna graduated from College Thursday night. She now has her degree in Business Management and was ever so glad to get that out of the way. She is sick of school she tells me. The graduation was held at the Florence Civic Center. We were on the second tier. I don't think I could have handled the third tier. I felt as though I were hanging from a catwalk as it was. We followed the ceremony with supper at the Olive Garden. They have the absolute best Eggplant Parmesan there. Okay, now here is a really bad picture...on the left is Anna's mom Judy, then me (my aunt told me I'm still looking "peaked" which is a southern way of telling you that you look like hell...I have to admit...I look like hell...but Arianna is beautiful and so is Mac! So anyway, we spent the weekend helping the kids do some landscaping. That is where the kids and Mac work and I give directions...you know: put that there, dig that here plant this now...it was fun.

Then, as I said, I woke up this morning and jumped out of bed...well perhaps jumped is not exactly what I did...I sort of grunted and groaned and waited for Mac to push me upright. I went into the kitchen and turned on the coffee pot, then opened the front door so I could see what all that blessed rain had done during the night. I closed it quickly, because it was cold out there! I'm not kidding, after I put on a jacket and went onto the porch to read the thermometer, it was 42 degrees. On May 18th. In South Carolina. Yes, Spring is still here after all. I'd be looking forward to temperatures like this in September. But in May? It is May, right?

Monsoon has begun here, a few weeks early...but tonight I'm enjoying a just-rained, cool evening...lovely.

Hi Sandi, I wish I could pop over and share a coffee with you on your front porch. My garden is enjoying this climate change too much me thinks!

Yes, it is a little chilly, isn't it!

Sandi, you look mahvelous because you're vertical! There's a lot to be said for vertical. As you may recall, you had us all a wee bit nervous for a while there a few short weeks ago. You look thin and happy, too. Now, let Mac gril you some steak and some crash potatoes.

Your grandgirlie is some kind of cute. Congrats to your daughter-in-law on her achievement. Hope that she doesn't have to return to a classroom any time soon.

RoTFL... I am right with you on this one! Same here. It has poured down all day. Really rained. And the wind is cold.

I am sure it is November.

Dang, you're lucky you have someone to push you out of bed and help you "rise and shine." I sure could use that or at least a hand, to hold on to while I try to stand up to what is my equivalent to "straight." Darned joints get stiffer every day ya know.
Temps here last night were in the frost range! Brrr. Today, it "might" go up to 58-60 in our area but with the breeze we've got here, it's not even going to seem that warm.
Congrats to the DIL too on the degree! Always a good feeling for everyone once that is over and done with!
Peace. Now go plant some more posies and veggies and I'm heading to my room to do something I haven't done in two years -sew!

The rain brought cooler weather to Texas also. It is wonderful. I have the doors and windows open and the birds are singing.
Happy Monday to you,

Hello Sandi!~I certainly understand the chatting of cooler temps...I was perplexed to find my barn kitties all huddled on the porch...but the discovery was made when I stepped outside!

It was a bit nippy here this morning as well!

Super congrats for all the great news! I am sure you are very proud of her!

It was cold in Missouri, too! Some of my students came to school in sleeveless shirts shivering in the cold!

Nobody's told the weather it's May Sandi - it's 58 F here which is nowhere near warm enough!

Congrats to your DIL.

That a happy photo! :)

We've had a cold spell here too. I'm no longer used to the heat going on during the night, but it has for the past couple of times.

Congrats to your DIL. :)

Glad to see you're feeling better and, as someone else said, vertical. Also glad Sonny's procedure went well and that your daughter in law doesn't have to think about another day in school. She must be so relieved.

I'm in Kinston NC and am wearing shoes, socks, long pants and long sleeved shirt and I'm hot natured! But I love this chilly weather, May 18th or not!

Congratulations to your DIL! A wonderful accomplishment. :)

As someone else said, you look fine and standing on your own two feet! How great is that after all you've been through. (((hugs)))

It's cool here, and I love it! Great for reading!

Glad you had a good time with your relations, even though it was cold.
Great to hear your DIL graduated.

Sandi, It is jolly well cold here too, (51 degrees)
It has done nothing but rain and the wind slashes it down. What a terrible time to have the kitchen roof taken off! We are living on microwave ready meals! Mopping up the wet that has blown under the tarpaulin.
Tomorrow is my Birthday and it is one I won't forget in a hurry!

well you didn't have to send it over here for Pete's sake, I have the pool cleaned and we want to get in it.

How lovely to see you standing there smiling Sandi. You really had me worried for you a few weeks back I must say. It's great to read your postings once again.
Congratulations to DIL on her fine results and to you for having such a beautiful grandaughter. You must be so proud of them both.

You must live a lot closer to the mountains than I thought, Sandi. We had 63 degrees this morning but it got up into the 80's pretty quickly. Purring cats are great to wake up to aren't they? I'd actually rather stay in bed and snuggle with one doing that then get up to feed it. LOL

Nice picture! You're right! Ariana is awfully cute! Mac is just plain photogenic!

Looking forward to our game tomorrow, or Thursday!

Hugs!

I had to do a double take this morning when the themometer read 44! We have had the windows open and it was a bit cool in the house this morning.
So glad that you are able to get out of bed and move around and do things!

Well..in Central F-L-A it's been in the 90's, but we've had 2 days of non-stop rain and it was just about 64 this morning! Love the temp, but not too wild about the rain. Oh sure, we need it...but we don't need to get it all in 2 days!!

You look pretty dang good, to me...glad to know you're feeling better!

Love ya, Cassie

But don't you pronounce that 'peek-ed'? I think it actually may be spelled piqued, but not sure...

Thanks for this story, and you do look peek-ed, but recovering! And having minions to do the gardening...I'm jealous!

It's a tad chilly here in Missouri, too. J heard we are to have a cooler than average summer. I'll believe that when I see it. We keep waiting for the other shoe to drop....you know the one...sending temps from 42 to 92 overnight!!

It's good to see you out and about!

Hi Sandi-

Just visiting some new blogs via Raven and Jeni....congratulations to your DIL.

I live near Phoenix and we have been in triple digits for several days, 105, 107....but thankfully dropping down to the high 90's today. I think I'd enjoy a 42 degree day-but not for too long!

Nice to meet you!

The Southerner's sense of humor "peaks" in the most inexpected places. *giggle* I'd say you look like a perfect Georgia peach that needs some rest, that's all!

I hope the temperatures have soared in the meantime! You are always welcome to move to Sunny Vienna, of course. Temps in the eighties, plenty of sunshine, flowers abloom in the most unexpected places and the fruit trees are already carry tiny apples, pears, apricots and, yes, peaches! Strawberries ripe for the picking. Wanna come? ;-)

You look amazing and svelte!! :) And Uncle Wally and Arianna are stunning as well. (And so is Anna's mom - don't want to leave anyone out, you know!)

I've been doing a little bit of blog surfing this evening - it's been too long since I've done that. It's like having to relearn everybody's lives again! Can't believe I've been so isolated from everyone lately. I've missed this stuff.

Tell Anna congrats on graduating for me, okay? Talk to you guys soon!

Love you,
Sissy
