An April Fool

So today the WWW is on tenterhooks. We're all (or most of us) terrified to even check our e-mail accounts, much less open them! I've received those "you've received a card from a friend" but unless the friend's name is clearly spelled out (and correctly) I have never opened them, simply sent them into the e-mail hell known as Deletion World. Or, the WWWDW...in the meantime, I intend to enjoy the witticisms that you send me, and if I see my sisters' names and they don't include a last name, well, you know where they're going. Okay, so much for the conficker worm...no, that's not a misspelling, it's the closest they could come and still rate it as G for General Audiences.

Now, as for my Giveaway...I'm happy to say that Brenda, of Country Romance from the Heart was my draw winner. I'll be sending her an E-mail (that I hope she won't misconstrue as the Conficker Worm) to let her know and have her send me her address. I'm so happy for Brenda!

Yesterday Mac and I went to do some Spring shopping at Lowe's and WalMart's. We shop in Hartsville (which is in Darlington County, SC) because they're the closest to us and we're never disappointed when we get there. We're in the market for a Chipper/Shredder. We have so many trees that have to be thinned and we need so much mulch that it seems wasteful to burn our limbs yet buy chipped up limbs for our gardens. We didn't find one yesterday, but are hopeful that when we order online, it will come to our store. In the meantime, I picked up a couple of Collumbines and African Daisies to add to the front beds. I can only hope that more frost doesn't hit. But if it does, I've been saving gallon sized milk jugs to use to protect any tender plants. I can put them safely over the plants, caps on, then remove them easily when the threat is past. If it's still a bit dicey when the sun comes out, just pop off the cap and let the jug vent and not build up to much heat to harm the plant. Today we'll be planting out and watching over our shoulders for the rain that's moving in.

We've had some major illness in our family this past week, my Brother-in-Law Jack has had open heart surgery and that is just the beginning of his ordeal for next few months. My cousin Jerry has been in a bad way for several weeks, had pneumonia, coded (actually died) and is now just coming out of something called "ICU Psychosis" in that he has been in ICU so long that his mind simply shut down, memories and all. He's doing much better this week and his memory has pretty much returned. So, while I ask that you include my family in your prayers, I also ask that you petition God for all in our nation who are undergoing trials and tribulations that are beyond their kin. What with bank failures and floods, home losses and job woes, we need that prayer more than ever!

So again, Brenda congratulations on being my winner...I'll be e-mailing you pal, so don't send me off into WorldWideWebDeletionHell! I'll need that address!!! I think you, above all, are going to be one happy girl!

So sorry to hear about the illnesses Sandi. Will definitely be thinking all good thoughts and sending them your way- the internet is wonderful for realising we're all in the same boat and need to pull together.

Sorry to hear about all the illness in the family. As for the other things that are caused by the credit crunch and the floods etc we are all in it together. Lets hope Barack Obama will have the answers, though he isn't God!

This is one of the first April Fool's Days that I haven't even had an attempt on me! Except that I was wakened from bed with a phone call early this morning...... a silent call. Thought I heard children in the back ground.
When son came round with the girls this morning, he said that his phone alarm had gone off and he had pressed stop and pressed my number by accident while half asleep. I could hear heavy breathing. He reckons he was asleep! Do I believe that? Glad it wasn't a stalker!

We do the same thing with gallon jugs here in Iowa - except we do it two WHOLE months from now! You southerners are so lucky.

I'm going to keep your family in my prayers.

Oh goodness! I pray for all to have a speedy recovery!! (and no more illness).

Hmmm, so that is what I can do with all those milk jugs! I have not been able to figure out for the life of me why hubby saves every blasted milk jug. One or two is one thing but . . .

Smiles!

Sorry to here about all the major health issues in your family. I'll stop now and send up some prayers.

Congrats to Brenda. :)

Prayers ascending, Sandi! I hope Jack recovers completely and the same for Jerry! In the mean time, you take care of yourself too. My ex used to have us water the plants everytime it was gonna freeze. Seems that protects them from freezing although I don't know if it works against frost.

Hugs!
Lee

Funny how we forget all the aches and pains and work when spring comes , we look for new ways to enjoy god's beauty all around us. I'm tackling big outdoor projects too..sk

Yes, there's a whole lot going on and it doesn't smell good.

I will be thinking of your brother-in-law and your cousin. I'd never heard of such a thing. Glad to read that he is doing better.

At least, you two sound busy and vertical. Bet your gardens are keeping you very active. Hope that you find the perfect chipper.

Don't you just know that that worm of yesterday did make me nervous. I read that if I could get to Microsoft.com, I'd probably be okay. I caught up on all the downloads I'd been avoiding and felt better for it.

Congrats to your winner!

Oh, you do know that we want to see pics of your beautiful garden at some point!

There seems to be a lot of illness about. Sorry to hear that your family is suffering.

Thank you for the idea of covering up tender plants to protect them from the frost. Weather here has been rather warm for the time of year and it is tempting to put out plants too soon.

Oh gosh ... so sorry to hear about the illnesses and ops. I hope your BIL and your cousin will recovery well.

Sorry to hear about the conflicker worm too - I hadn't heard about it, but I seldom boot up the Windows machine these days and then usually only to access my files. I hope you don't get hit!

Gardening is good therapy, though, isn't it? :)

It is April Fool's Day? Since I am a stay at home person with no where to go or nothing to do I don't look at the calendar. No one played any jokes on me. LOL...So sorry for the woes in the family and hope that time will heal all. Great idea with the milk jug. I lost two tender plants that I was so eager to get in the ground and then forgot and old man winter (who won't go away) got. Fortunately they weren't expensive and I will replace. (today) Happy Weekend Sandi, Lynn

Hope our brother in law is better soon...my mother in law had quadruple bypass last year...she healed very quickly, but the one thing we noticed was she was a tad "depressed" which is NOT like her at all.......ooh a trip to Lowes! MY favorite store!
