This has been the coldest and roughest winter in many of our memories, I'm sure. We had more snow than usual, so much in fact that the only state left snowless was Hawaii. I normally love snow. But I love the magical snow, you know, here today gone tomorrow. Not this here today gone next month stuff with which we've been

Where is that lying little rodent hiding now?
Well I'm over my first flu illness in more years than I care to count. Something went wrong after I retired. My body started working against me. Where before I was like super woman, never getting sick, injuries healing in record time , working twelve hour shifts then coming home to work four more inside and out without batting an eye, to this. (I can hear Peggy Lee singing "I am woman, W O M A N" in the background.) I refuse to let the weather changes make an invalid or a hostage of my spirit, whatever it may do to my body. While my body may cringe at the thought of rain, my spirit knows we need to break the drought that has taken hold of our state. We've started the planting and come wind (OMG the wind!) hell or high water, we're going to get some veggies out of this ground! The peas have popped up, the garlic is doing well and the tomato plants are showing off their little green leaves . I have a feeling that lying little rodent Pauxatauny Phil may be a liar, but we have a heater in the green house, so raspberry to you dear Phil.

But I love the magical snow, you know, here today gone tomorrow. Not this here today gone next month stuff with which we've beendamned blessed. Our peach trees, plum trees and pear trees are all blooming, the apple tree is holding tight buds, and we've had 32 degree temps three days this week. Luckily the low temps don't last long, so I think we may be alright. I can only hope and pray that we stay above 32 til Spring finally arrives for real. It's a scary thought, but that Mayan Calendar thing might be on to something!

Nice to hear that you are feeling better :-)
Take care ...........
and spring will come soon :-)
We NEED the sun :)))))
((hugs))
Good to see you Sandi! We don't hear enough from you any more. Glad to hear the flu is finally left. I'm trying so hard to get back into the regular blogging habit. Had forgotten how much work it is. But fun work. Wish you'd get back into at least a once a week post!
I know exactly from whence you speak! I could really use a good dose of the magical snow too about now! Sadly, I think we're just due for a little more additions of the "let's stick around awhile" kind of white stuff though as it is snowing -again -here today! ARRGH!
A day or so ago, I was considering stopping by to ask if the flu had gone all Libya on you. Glad to know that you are on the mend. I hear you. I hear you. I am moving like an old woman (course I am an old woman) and I'm blaming the cold, the wind, the ice, the snow. Glad that you and Mac are getting your fingernails dirty again. Good things will come of this horrid winter...we can all hope.
Glad to hear that you are better. Looking forward to some warmer weather myself.
Glad you're feeling better & the weather is getting better. I think we are all mightily sick of snow for a while now.
Can't help wondering where the rodent fits in. Puzzled!

Nuts in May
Sandie, I am glad that you have recovered from the flu. I miss reading your blog, but I know how much time it takes to write and visit everyone.
We are getting excited about our garden. I can't wait.
We've had more snow this winter than I reallyc are for as well. I don't mind it as it falls but I hate when it makes travel bad.
Sandi, so glad to hear your gardens are doing well after all that snow. It threw TX for a loop too! Wishing you a rainbonnet to wear for the next few weeks in hopes that the weather turns to rain and the rain makes your world all bright and spring green.
Love,
Lee
I have been that lying rodent's case for several weeks. First of all he did not have his eyes open in the photo I saw. How could he see the sun with his eyes closed?
Second he needs to go on a diet. Funny he is so fat, and those black top hatted handles are basically skinny?
Get better quick. We do have daffodils in bloom and crocus plus signs of other growth peeping through the ground.
So glad you're feeling better.
I'm so ready for Spring too. We leave for our annual two week trip to Palm Desert next Friday. So excited. Hopefully, Spring will be here when we return.
Hugs,
Kat
Everyone (at least everyone outside the US) knows that Pauxatauny Phil is just guessing. LOL!
I'm glad you're feeling better. Flu - real flue - is very rough on a person, and rougher the older you get, it seems. As to the weather thing, my Mum also suffers more according to the weather. She used to be a dedicated nurse who looked up to the doctors as oracles of wisdom but she has started to denounce them as 'non-believers' in this particular case!
I know just how you feel. I've been sick twice since I've been in GA.
I can't wait until Spring.
I know exactly what you mean about something going wrong after retirement! I had nothing wrong with my when I retired twelve months ago, now I am diabetic and have high blood pressure W.T.F.????
I will not let it stop me enjoying myself though, I'll keep taking the tablets and living life to the full. :)
Sandi, we've had a loooooooooong, cold winter but with little snow. And we need the snow here, for our water supply. Odd times all over.
Our daughter did, however, get some refreshingly Spring-like news on Tuesday. Yes, I've posted it!
I thought for a minute there that you were talking 32 degrees Celcius! Ha! I wonder if we will even see that kind of temp this summer.
You've got veg showing - we've got -11C and a foot of snow at least on the lawn.
Sigh.
Happy Spring (soooon!) Sandi. I'm glad that you're on the mend.
Maybe it all is a blessing... going into a gorgeous Spring when you're fully appreciating being well could be somewhat ethereal.
I don't in any way buy that nonsense about the Mayans, but damned if this winter hasn't been the most odious, nasty, freezing, bitter, putrid, execrable season of my entire life.
Glad you are feeling better too! And yes, may spring hit your arae and stay! We will hit the 80's this weekend. Yes! Can't believe I even said yes to that, the cold was as intolerable as the extreme heat of last summer :)
Enjoy the blooms and gift of spring!
